A Preview of
Rushing, Rising and Painted Rust
It was their friend’s little sister, Pamela, whom everyone called Sissy. Chippy was her little dog and best friend. Mr. Tee Randall dashed out of the house with a carpet bag and a doll. He placed the doll in the child’s arms. Gathering it close, she cried, “Rosie.” Her father offered the child his hand, and she held it tight. Skye and Stormey greeted the gentleman before he said, “We all need to get to the school. It’s not safe here with the water rising.“ He spoke softly to his daughter. “I know you are worried about Chippy. He is smart. Chippy may already be at the school waiting for us.” Sissy and her father joined the rest of the family, who were already in the car. Pulling away from the house, they drove up the hill. Skye and Stormey agreed they would look for the missing dog.
